Publication Ethics
Inovasi Masyarakat melalui Pengabdian dan Aksi Terapan is committed to upholding the highest standards of publication ethics and takes all possible measures against any publication malpractices. The Editorial Board is responsible for preventing publication malpractice. Unethical behavior is unacceptable, and IMPACTA does not tolerate plagiarism in any form. Authors who submit manuscripts affirm that the contents are original works and have not been published previously, either wholly or partly, and are not under consideration for publication elsewhere.
Editors, authors, and reviewers are fully committed to good publication practice and accept responsibility for fulfilling the duties and responsibilities as stated by the Committee on Publication Ethics (COPE) Code of Conduct for Journal Editors. Author Responsibilities
- Authors must not contact any persons involved in the evaluation process during or before manuscript evaluation.
- Authors are required to carefully consider the list and order of authors before submitting their manuscript and provide the definitive list of authors at the time of original submission.
Individuals who do not contribute substantially to the work must not be listed as authors. All contributors who made significant contributions should be listed as co-authors.
No author names may be added after submission.
Contributors who participated in specific aspects (e.g., language editing or technical assistance) should be acknowledged in the Acknowledgment section. - Any potential conflict of interest related to the study must be disclosed in accordance with the Conflict of Interest policy.
- Manuscripts submitted to Inovasi Masyarakat melalui Pengabdian dan Aksi Terapan (IMPACTA) must be original. Proper citation of others’ work must be clearly stated. If authors use the words, data, or ideas of others, they must be appropriately cited or quoted and permission obtained where necessary.
- Proper acknowledgment of the work of others must always be given. Publications that influenced the reported work must be cited to provide appropriate academic context.
- Plagiarism in all its forms (including copying, paraphrasing without attribution, or claiming results of others) constitutes unethical behavior and is unacceptable.
- Information obtained through confidential services (e.g., peer review or grant applications) must not be used without explicit written permission from the original author.
- Authors may be requested to provide raw data during the review process and must supply such data when required.
- Authors are responsible for obtaining permission from individuals, institutions, or organizations where necessary.
- A manuscript must not be submitted to more than one journal at the same time.
- For research involving human participants or animals, authors must ensure that all procedures comply with relevant laws and institutional guidelines and that approval from the appropriate ethics committee has been obtained.
Authors must include a statement confirming informed consent for human participants and protection of privacy. - Research involving human subjects should comply with the Declaration of Helsinki. Animal studies should follow applicable ethical and legal guidelines (e.g., ARRIVE or EU Directive 2010/63/EU).
- Appropriate written consent must be obtained if personal data, images, or case details of individuals are included. Authors must retain such consent and provide it upon request.
- All authors must disclose any financial or personal relationships that could influence their work. All sources of funding must be clearly stated, including the role of sponsors in study design, data collection, analysis, interpretation, and publication decisions.
- If authors discover significant errors or inaccuracies in their published work, they must promptly notify the Editor and cooperate in correcting or retracting the article.
Ethical Appropriateness Checklist
Authors should ensure that:
- Official permissions for data collection or use have been obtained.
- Copyright permissions have been secured when copyrighted materials are used.
- Proper permissions are obtained for data, tools, or procedures from prior publications.
- All sources are cited appropriately.
- Consent has been obtained from participants when applicable.
- Ethical procedures for animal studies are followed when relevant.
- Confidentiality and safety of participants are protected.
- All authors have read and approved the submitted manuscript.
Editor Responsibilities
- The Editor is responsible for deciding which submitted articles should be published, guided by the journal’s editorial policies and legal requirements regarding libel, copyright, and plagiarism.
- Editors follow the COPE Code of Conduct and Best Practice Guidelines for Journal Editors.
- The Editor ensures that the double-blind peer review process is fair, unbiased, and timely. Each manuscript is reviewed by at least two independent reviewers.
- Manuscripts are evaluated solely on their intellectual merit without regard to race, gender, religion, nationality, or political views of the authors.
- Editors promote transparency and honest reporting and ensure that reviewers and authors understand journal policies.
- Editors must not manipulate journal metrics or require authors to cite specific journals or editors’ works without valid scholarly reasons.
- Editors must maintain confidentiality of all submitted manuscripts and reviewer identities.
- Editors must declare any conflicts of interest and must not handle manuscripts in which they have a personal or professional interest.
- Editors must investigate suspected misconduct and coordinate with the Publisher to issue corrections, retractions, or expressions of concern where appropriate.
- Editors must ensure proper record keeping and support freedom of thought and academic integrity.
Reviewer Responsibilities
- Reviewers should only accept manuscripts relevant to their expertise.
- Reviewers must not access or attempt to identify author identities. If such information is known, the review must be terminated.
- Reviews must be conducted objectively and confidentially, without personal criticism.
- Reviewers must disclose conflicts of interest and decline reviews when conflicts exist.
- Reviewers must not use information obtained from manuscripts for personal advantage.
- Reviewers must avoid bias based on nationality, gender, religion, or political views.
- Reviews should be constructive and respectful.
- Reviewers must comply with review deadlines and ethical standards.
Publisher Responsibilities
- Editors are fully responsible for editorial decisions. The Publisher guarantees editorial independence.
- The Publisher holds copyright and archiving responsibility for published works.
- The Publisher is responsible for preventing plagiarism and unethical practices.
- The Publisher supports editors and promotes best practices in scholarly publishing, including cooperation with COPE.
